On Winter’s Eve, The Church of St Paul the Apostle will open its doors at 6:00pm for music, cookie decorating, a visit from ST. NICHOLAS and more.
6:00-6:30pm – The Melita Ensemble features two of its members Mitchell Lyon (cello) and Jocelyn Zhu (violin). Both graduates of the Juilliard School, these young and up-and-coming musicians bring the highest quality music to the sacred space at St Paul’s. On Winter’s Eve they will be playing instrumental holiday selections and classical favorites.
6:30-7:00pm – Free movie screening of The Little Drummer Boy: this classic movie tells the story of a poor young boy who is summoned by the Magi to the nativity where, without a gift for the infant Jesus, he plays his drums while remembering “I played the best for Him” and “He smiled at me”.
7:00pm – ST. NICHOLAS arrives for a visit with the children.
7:00-7:45pm – Sacred Sounds at St Paul’s concert series features students of the Juilliard Organ Department performing on the St Paul Organ. Daniel Ficarri will perform a recital of organ music based upon popular hymn tunes.
7:45-8:00pm – Favorite Spanish Christmas music sung by members of the St. Paul Spanish Choir, Coro Hispano.
8:00-9:00pm – Broadway Sings at St. Paul’s will kick off your Holiday season and have you in the Christmas spirit with an hour of festive music. With the backdrop of the breathtaking Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Broadway stars Jessica Fontana (Baby It’s You & Cinderella) and Santino Fontana (Cinderella & Frozen the movie) will dazzle us with their favorite carols. The concert will be led by Broadway music director, Joey Chancey, and will also feature lively choral arrangements by the St. Paul’s Young Adult Choir.
9:00pm – The evening closes with a Christmas Sing-a-long and a drawing for a Nativity Scene.
